Projects, Markets and Potentials

We are currently pursuing several plant projects in parallel which are in various stages of planning, development or construction. In addition to several 10 MW to 15 MW projects in Northern Africa, we are developing two 10 MW stations in Spain, one in Central America and a 5 MW to 10 MW Fresnel field in the Australian outback. Together with our partners, we work on the upcoming Fresdemo II project. Fresdemo II will incorporate improved key components and the experience of two years of operation of Fresdemo I.

Key Markets for Fresnel Solar Power

The choice of a suitable location for a plant affects the economic viability of concentrating solar power generation most immediately. The available solar resource determines the efficiency of a CSP plant to a considerable extent and therefore the costs of the electricity generation. Therefore the best suited locations for Fresnel solar power installations are found in the sun belt of the earth, areas close to the equator such as Southern Europe, Northern Africa, the U.S. Southwest and the Middle East. Many countries in these regions have excellent solar irradiation levels of 2,500 kWh to 2,800 kWh per square metre and year, and unclouded skies throughout the most part of the year, both preconditions for economically efficient solar thermal power generation. Other highly attractive Fresnel CSP locations are found in some parts of South America and in Australia.

We and our partners are present in all potential solar power markets across the sun belt.
