Leading the field in Fresnel
solar power technology

Since 1998 in Solarmundo and from 2004 as the Solar Power Group (SPG), we have developed an optimized Fresnel solar power plant to produce steam and electricity sustainably and on a commercial scale. At the same time, we have continuously improved and advanced our Fresnel collector to move CSP towards cost parity with fossil fuel power generation.

The technological feasibility of our Fresnel collector was demonstrated and documented over the course of the Fresdemo project. On Plataforma Solar de Almería in Spain, the most advanced solar research facility in Europe, a full-scale prototype of our plant was constructed and successfully operated for over two years until today.

Throughout the development of our Fresnel plant, we have collaborated closely with distinguished research institutions, including the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy (ISE) and CIEMAT, Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas – Environmental, Energetic and Technological Research Center, for further improvement and evaluation of our technology.

In 2007, we formed an alliance with MAN Ferrostaal which provided us with the backing of one of the world’s largest EPC contractors and today enables us to offer our customers a comprehensive package from conception to deployment.
